Who will be talking about signposting to and finding services in your area. \nIf you’re an adult NWL resident who identifies as autistic or ADHD\, come along to one of our Coffee Connects drop-in sessions! \nWhether you’re interested in catching up with friends\, having a cuppa\, or just looking for a relaxing place to unwind with like-minded people – our drop-ins are for you. \nEven if you’re completely new to CAAS\, all are welcome. \nNo registration necessary\, just pop by during one of the sessions for a snack\, a warm drink and some friendly chit-chat; free crafts available for anyone who would like to join in. \nThis session takes place in Grove Neighbourhood Centre (this session only) as part of Creative Coffee Drop-in’s efforts to go into different boroughs over the next few months. \n

DESCRIPTION:For autistic people aged 14-19 without a co-occurring learning disability resident in Harrow\, Brent\, Ealing\, Hillingdon\, Hounslow\, Hammersmith & Fulham\, Westminster\, and Kensington & Chelsea. \nA monthly online forum for young autistic people to explore what it means to become an adult. During the teen years there’s a lot of talk about ‘growing up’\, ‘being an adult’ without really discussing what that means. \nThese monthly sessions will provide a safe place to explore and ask those important questions\, work through any worries about ‘growing up’ and what ‘being an adult’ means. SUMMARY:Eating Disorders in Autism & Neurodivergence NWL Professional Training
DESCRIPTION:This training will cover the links between autism and eating disorders \n\n\n\n\nThis Training is ONLINE for Professionals working with autistic/ADHD adults in NWL\nDr Elizabeth Shea is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with 25 years of experience working in the field of avoidant and restricted eating in autistic individuals. She has completed research in this area\, published two commissioned books and her work has featured in documentaries on both BBC and ITV. She is an nationally recognised speaker across the UK and Ireland and regularly trains groups of professionals\, parents and carers in how to manage these eating patterns in autistic people. Dr Shea works with organisations such as the National Autistic Society and Scottish Autism and is the Clinical Lead for an all-age Neurodevelopmental service in a NHS health trust in the West Midlands. She is currently writing her 3rd book on pica and rumination disorder in autism.Dr Shea consistently receives feedback that her talks and training sessions are accessible\, enjoyable\, informative and relevant to both professional practice and parenting. \nWhat the session will cover: \n\nPresentation of eating disorders in autism/neurodivergence including anorexia nervosa/bulimia nervosa & Avoidant and Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)\nPrevalence and etiology or causal factors\nCurrent evidence-based treatment approaches\nGood practice examples\n\nInformation will be presented using a combination of lived experience/case studies\, research and clinical practice evidence.

DESCRIPTION:Film Group\nOur Film Group offers a relaxed and supportive space to meet people\, socialise and enjoy films together. \nMost sessions take place at the CAAS Adult Hub\, where the group chooses a film to watch while sharing pizza. There is also time for informal discussion afterwards. \nOnce every three months\, the group visits a local cinema instead. \nCost\n\nFilm and pizza sessions at the Adult Hub are free\nFor cinema outings\, attendees pay their own costs\, including their cinema ticket and any refreshments\n\nAttending the group\nThis group is for registered CAAS clients who have been invited to attend by a member of staff. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. \nPlease do not attend unless a staff member has confirmed your place.
