SUMMARY:Executive Functioning and Autistic Inertia
DESCRIPTION:Autistic experiences around executive functioning and autistic inertia \nGetting washed\, dressed and packing a school bag are tasks most people don’t give much thought to- but for those autistic young people who experience executive functioning challenges \, these tasks can be totally overwhelming. On top of that\, Starting or initiating tasks can be a minefield for those young people who experience the frozen state of autistic inertia. This warm and humorous session\, led by autistic speaker Dean Beadle\, dispels common myths around these areas and offers lots of neuroaffirming compassionate practical strategies\, to support autistic young people who may struggle to plan for and start tasks. \nDean Beadle has delivered over 1\,000 parents talks\, inset training sessions and conference keynotes around his experiences of being autistic. For the past twenty years\, Dean has worked across the UK and abroad\, challenging harmful attitudes and campaigning for a world that better understands\, values and celebrates autistic people. He is patron of three autism related charities.
