DESCRIPTION:ADHD and Autism Parenting Boost is a 6-week follow-on course which is available to parents/carers after attending the Understanding ADHD and Understanding Autism courses. The sessions are designed to provide enhanced understanding and offer additional strategies for parents. \nThe course is based on the accredited “Effective Parenting” course which has been adapted to meet the needs of families of neurodiverse children and teenagers and covers the following: \n\nBuilding self-esteem in both the child/young person and for yourself\nStrategies for improving communication at home\nUnderstanding and managing challenging and difficult behaviours\nListening skills\nSupporting emotional behaviour including anger and frustrations\nThe benefits of emotion coaching and how to put it into practice\nSelf -care\n\nEach session is for two hours and the courses are held either online in the evenings or daytime at CAAS. During the teen years there’s a lot of talk about ‘growing up’\, ‘being an adult’ without really discussing what that means. \nThese monthly sessions will provide a safe place to explore and ask those important questions\, work through any worries about ‘growing up’ and what ‘being an adult’ means.
