Funded Training

We are extremely fortunate that a number of funders have agreed to pay for training for certain organisations. We know improved access to, and experience of, services comes from awareness and understanding by professionals, and these training services aim to facilitate this.

For:     Professionals that work with adults in NWL.
What:  We offer regular training around autism as part of our autism in context series funded by the NWL ICB.  These include general awareness training, as well as specific topics (such as autism and gender) and for specific services (such as dentistry). Please keep an eye on our social media posts, our website diary or sign up to our mailing lists to be the first to knowPlease contact emma@adhdandautism.org to find out more.adults

As part of the North West London (NWL) Integrated Care System (ICS) objectives to address inequalities, and in partnership with Harrow Council, Young Harrow Foundation and Harrow School, we are excited to offer a free in-person training session on ADHD and Autism.

This unique training will incorporate experiential learning and an immersive sensory experience to enhance understanding of both conditions, ensuring attendees gain deeper insights.

For: Healthcare professionals, schools and other education settings, voluntary sector, health, and social care professionals. Harrow-only organisations. Training to be in person for a minimum of 15-20 attendees at a location provided by the organisation making the booking.

Duration: Two hours.

CAAS Training

We offer professional training as part of our “Empowering Ourselves to be Heard” project, at a competitive rate. We are happy to train in person if local to our centre in Eastcote, or on-line if you are based further afield.

The training is delivered by CAAS staff, supported by experts in their field: autistic adults, those with ADHD, or their carers. This has resulted in a powerful training programme which has been written up as an example of good practice in the Department of Health “Think Autism” strategy document.

Training is available to small groups as well as wider audiences and can be tailored to your organisation’s needs.  Typical topics include ‘Understanding Autism’ or ‘Understanding ADHD’, and take around one hour. A two-hour training will include advice on strategies that may be appropriate, and will include breakout sessions or small working groups. Please fill in this form to find out more or contact adhd@adhdandautism.org.

We are delighted to offer a range of support to schools under our Schools Training offer.

In the UK, as many as one in twenty children are either ADHD and/or autistic. Schools often feel under-resourced to support these students effectively and value strategies to help them reach their full potential. Neurodivergent students face unique challenges, including difficulties accessing learning, bullying, and social isolation.

These barriers can be significantly reduced when educators understand and cater to their needs.

By offering training to schools, we help your team build greater awareness, enhance their understanding, and feel better equipped to support neurodivergent students. Our training enables educators to foster a more inclusive environment and implement strategies that promote success for all learners.

To book, please complete the form below or contact adhd@adhdandautism.org.

We periodically offer specific workshops and trainings. Here are the links to our Eventbrite Pages, where further details of our upcoming trainings can be found:

Community Outreach

Our mission is to raise understanding and awareness in our community, and to improve both access to – and the experience of – local services.

As part of our outreach strategy, we are placing particular focus on individuals and families from ESL (English as a Second Language) backgrounds and those facing socio-economic disadvantage. These groups often encounter additional barriers when accessing support, and we are committed to making our services more inclusive and accessible.

If you are responsible for, or play a key role in supporting, ADHD and/or autistic individuals or their families, we would love to work with you. We are especially keen this year to strengthen our provision for those who do not speak English as their first language, and for those experiencing financial hardship.  If your organisation supports these communities, please get in touch with our Director of Services, Julie, at julie@adhdandautism.org.

We’d love to hear how we can better support the people you serve.

Support

Did you know? We offer a package for secondary schools to embed one of our Youth and School Support workers into the school community. Based at your school for a day we can offer one2one pupil support. Lunchtime clubs, parent support and teacher advice as you need it. Find out more by emailing blaise@adhdandautism.org.

When:  Regularly
What:   An online forum for professionals in NW London who work with the autistic adult community to connect, network, share knowledge and learning. Please check out our Eventbrite for further information.
